De eerste PoliticalMashup developers meeting vindt plaats op 19 Oktober 2010 op het Science Park aan de UvA in kamer C3.211.
1 reactie »Binnen het PoliticalMashup project hebben we een verzameling maidenspeeches uit de Eerste en Tweede Kamer aangelegd. Volgens Wikipedia:
A maiden speech is the first speech given by a newly-elected member of a legislature or parliament.
In de Notulen van januari 1995 tot en met de zomer van 2010 hebben we 280 maidenspeeches gevonden.
Het plaatje hieronder bevat een speciale woordenwolk van alle maidenspeeches van één partij. De worden in de wolk zijn gekozen omdat ze heel erg het speciale van maidenspeeches van deze partij in vergelijking met die van andere partijen uitdrukken. De wolk is gemaakt door Rianne Kaptein en gebaseerd op haar werk samen met Jaap Kamps en Djoerd Hiemstra over woordenwolken.
Enig idee tot welke partij de sprekers van deze maidenspeeches behoren?
Twee eerstejaars Informatiekunde aan de UvA vonden de kamervragen in XML formaat die PoliticalMashup samen met DIV en Emid in het Linked Data project zo vervelend om te lezen.
Ze hebben daarom laten zien hoever je kan komen om zo’n vraag te stylen met CSS.
De stylefile is gemaakt door Walraaf Borkent en Nikki Winands.
In this set of exercises we look at the effect of modelling decisions on the difficulty of carrying out standard XML tasks, like writing schemas, evolving schemas, writing transformations and XQueries.
We model a well known real life situation: an interview.

These exercises arose out of the 2nd Foundations of XML training event (Warsaw, September 2010).

Here you ask for attributes and the database engine does not output those to the screen. If you want to see the value of the attributes you need to ask for the string-value of them. Like this:

Most XPath tutorials and lessons use data-centric XML data files. For instance, the queries on the CIA-Factbook/Mondial database for first year Information Science at UvA.
We created a set of queries on the XML version of the proceedings of the European Parliament in English.
The queries can all be expressed in XPath 1.0. The level is introductory. Students can make try out their queries in an Exist sandbox and immediately see the results. The set of queries is available as a Google form.
Teachers who want to use this form are welcome. If you want to get the results of your students doe the following:
